Minister of Youth, Abdelkader Khomri, insisted Monday in Algiers, on the need to associate youth in the process of economic development, particularly through the promotion of investment projects initiated by them.
In his opening address at the Economic and Social Conference of Youth, held Monday and Tuesday at the Palais des Nations (Algiers), the Minister said that linking youth to economic growth is part of the government's policy for the country’s development.
This approach is based, according to the minister, on the doctrinal idea that youth is Algeria’s main wealth and the most important factor of its growth and development.
He then recalled that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s programme, based on the re-industrialization of the economic fabric, aimed to boost the public investment and to set all the conditions for private initiative.
"The government is now speeding up the implementation of this approach, while optimizing the business climate," he said.
In this context, Khomri stressed the need for Algeria to prepare the post-oil era by combining three factors, namely the human development, the economy of the market and the social state.
"One of the challenges that we have to successfully respond to is creating the conditions and the necessary means for harmonious and sustainable development that takes into account the strategic requirement of preparing for the post-oil era," stressed the minister.
He proposed, for this purpose, to promote youth entrepreneurship in the wealth and job-generator sectors outside the hydrocarbon sector, such as agriculture, industry, tourism and services.
