Senate President Abdel Abdel Raouf Rawabdeh on Monday praised the role played by the National Society for Consumer Protection which safeguards the citizens against monopolistic business practices and checks any undue dominance of transnational corporations.
Rawabdeh said, ''you as an institution and association of consumer protection are part of the reform process since you protect the weakest element in the economic operation. You carry out studies to ensure that people are not cheated when it comes to price and quality.'' He called for avoiding the showing off through the Media, warned people working outside the umbrella of consumer protection against leaking information and thus sabotaging the image of this corporation, something that can negatively affect the national economy.
The head of Consumer Protection, Mohammad Obeidat, said, the consumer society looks forward to implement a set of goals in the next three years that will serve the interests of the Jordanian and all Arab consumers. One major plan, he affirmed, is to establish an electronic system to help the consumers by making it possible to receive e-complaints, particularly those regarding food, medicine and housing.
