Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Hatem Halawani on Monday discussed with Special Envoy of Brazil to the Middle East Ambassador Cesario Melantonio Neto means to enhance economic ties between the two countries. Halawani underlined the importance of joint action to promote economic and trade cooperation, noting that trade exchange between Jordan and Brazil falls short of the aspiration of the two countries despite the many potentials available in both countries. The minister said that the trade balance is in favour of Brazil, noting that Jordan’s exports to Brazil stood at $2.1 million in the first 11 months of 2012, while it’s imports from Brazil reached $234.6 million. He called on the Brazilian private sector to import Jordanian products, mainly pharmaceutical and dead sea products as well as fruits and vegetables. The Brazilian envoy, on his part, called on the private sector in both countries to increase trade exchange and establish joint investments
