Kuwait's International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) has offered urgent relief aid and Eid Al-Adha meat to hundreds of Somali families victims of drought.
UN Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Amiri Diwan Advisor Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq, IICO chairman, has been concerned with the humanitarian issue in Somalia since it emerged, a statement by the organization's field relief team said on Monday.
Al-Matouq ordered offering all possible support and aid to the afflicted people in the country, located in the Horn of Africa. IICO Director General Othman Al-Hajji formed a relief team to provide the aid to Somalis hit by drought in southern and central parts of the country.
This is part of relief campaigns by the IICO providing humanitarian aid to displaced Somalis hit by drought and floods in the Muslim country, the statement said.
"This last campaign has been directly implemented by the IICO team in collaboration with local societies in the Somali Republic, revealing the organization's interest in partnership and establishing a system of joint charity work," it noted.
This Eid foodstuffs worth USD 100,000 is being distributed on 14,285 people.
