Units of the People's National Army (ANP) thwarted, last Saturday in the region of Timiaouine, an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of foodstuffs, loaded in a truck, said Monday the Ministry of National Defence in a communiqué.
"During an ambush set up in the region of Timiaouine on 4 October 2014 at 4 a.m., units of the People's National Army of Bordj Badji Mokhtar operational area (6th Military Region) managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of foodstuffs, loaded in a truck," said the communiqué.
This operation allowed the seizure of 6,000 litres of vegetable oil, three tonnes of sugar and 4,500 litres of juice, said the communiqué.
