Kuwaiti Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdulmohsen Al-Madaj said he was happy to be in Oman as part of the 14th GCC Industrialists Conference which discusses the conditions of export industries in the GCC and Yemen. The Minister said in a press statement on Sunday that the conference which kicked off today under the slogan "Export Industries, Opportunities and Challenges" will also discuss the development of export industries and the challenges facing them, including legal terms and their effects on the subject both regionally and internationally. The two-day conference is organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC), Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (PAIPED) and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in coordination with the GCC General Secretariat, and the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCCC). The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Representative of Sultan Qaboos, Asaad Bin Tariq Al-Saeed with the participation of GCC and Yemeni Ministers of Commerce and Industry, GCC industrialists, and international experts. It's of great importance to develop the industrial sector since it plays a huge role in developing the countries' economies and create job opportunities, said Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali Bin Masoud Al-Senaidi in the opening speech. The conference aims to allow the countries and individual industrialists to share their experiences in exporting, exchange deals for their factories, and increase production rates, said Al-Senaidi, noting that the event is also a chance to develop export projects and attract foreign investors. The conference will also focus on local and international experience in exports development including exports funding, infrastructure such as ports, transportation, telecommunications, and standards of exported goods. Moreover, participants will discuss taking their exports to international markets, and the local industry laws and how they fit into the laws of the World Trade Organization, and the role of national funds and governmental organizations in supporting and funding export investment projects. The GCC Industrialists Conference, which is hosted in turns by member states of (GOIC) once every two years is considered one of the Organization's main achievements since its establishment in 1976.
