Cairo - MENA

The Ministry of Finance will prioritize the considerations of social justice in the draft budget of 2016-2017, said Finance Minister Amr el Garhy.

In a statement on Friday, the minister said a draft budget for fiscal year 2016/2017 will continue to finance certain social programs and projects and upgrade the efficiency of social protection and subsidization systems.

Such programs include expansion in subsidizing food commodities and reform the health insurance system by improving health care services provided for citizens.

The planned budget is meant to realize economic take-off that allows fulfilling the aspirations of the citizens in sustainable development.

At the same time, the state is committed to play its main role in providing social protection and justice, and investing human resources, he said.

The minister noted that his ministry aims to curb the total deficit to range between 8 to 8.5%.

The general revenue is expected to achieve a growth rate hitting 20%, he said.

He added that the general expenses will realize a growth rate hitting 13% compared to the current fiscal year.
