The Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics has revealed that the high unemployment rate during the third quarter of 2013 to hit 13.4 % of the total labor force compared to 13.3% during the second quarter of this year. The agency attributed the continued increase in this rate to a slowdown in overall economic activity during that period. In a statement issused here Saturday, the agency pointed out that the size of the labor force recorded during the second and third quarters (about 27.2 million) people , and an increase of a million people by ( 4.2 ) % for the same quarter of 2010. It noted that the number of workers during the past quarter record ( 23.6 ) million employees , an increase of 8,000 operated by ( 0.03 ) from the previous quarter it, and a decrease of 218,000 workers by ( 0.9 ) % for the third quarter of 2010. The Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics referred to the high number of the unemployed or jobless during the period to ( 3.6 ) million people by ( 13.4 %) of the total work force, and an increase of 30,000 unemployed by ( 0.8 ) % from the previous quarter by an increase of $ ( 1.3 ) million unemployed by 56 % for the same quarter of 2010.
