Assiut Governor Ibrahim Hamaad said the government is to carry out major development and service projects at a cost of 11 billion pounds in the governorate.
"These projects will create more job opportunities and lure new investments to Assiut," Hamaad said.
He said they include an EGP two-billion project for improving drinking water and sanitation facilities.
Another project will be implemented for developing industrial zones at a cost of 428 million pounds, he said.
Other projects are to build housing projects and new roads in the Upper Egyptian governorate, Hamaad said.
