Makkah is characterized by the existence of the Holy Grand Mosque which is visited by pilgrims and Umrah performers from around the world, and it is Qiblah of Muslims to which more than one billion Muslims direct their faces during their prayers five times a day.
From this standpoint, the Governorate of Makkah region has sought in cooperation with international companies specialized in the field of urbanism to prepare a comprehensive strategic plan to Makkah and the holy sites since 2013 until 2040AD to develop Hajj services in Makkah in general and the holy sites in particular, and improve the quality of services in the sectors of development such as land use, environment, roads, transportation, housing, infrastructure, and social and economic development.
In the coming years, changes will be done in land use, the provision of services and facilities, and the preparation for development programs in all stages of development in a balanced manner to serve citizens, pilgrims, and Umrah performers alike.
