Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hisham Ramez held a meeting Thursday with Mohamed Zaki Al Suwaidi, head of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
The meeting tackled issues of the Egyptian industry under the new banking system and decisions issued by the CBE, mainly on providing foreign currencies to import production supplies.
Ramez stressed the importance of supporting industry and providing foreign currency necessary for importing raw materials and spare parts.
The CBE policy is aimed at paying more attention to small- and medium-sized industries as the main nucleus for basic industries in Egypt, Ramez said.
For his part, Al Suwaidi welcomed the decision, extending thanks to the prime minister, minister of industry and CBE governor for fulfilling the requests of manufacturers.
