Plans to expand King Fahd Causeway embankment to accommodate more vehicles. Under the scheme, the revamped area would accommodate around 300 trucks, up from 120 lorries at present. Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) board member Abdulhakeem Al-Shammari paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for directing to ease up the truck congestion on the strategic artery bonding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
In a statement today, he underscored the crucial importance of coordination with the Saudi political leadership to address truck ordeals on King Fahd Causeway. He commended the efforts of the Customs Affairs, the General Directorate of Traffic, The Public Security, the King Fahd General Authority to address the truck congestion and maintain the smooth flow of vehicles. Mr. Al-Shammari stressed the need to activate the GCC Customs Union and common market and implement e-Customs networking to streamline measures and ensure expedite clearance procedures.
