HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, has deputized Minister of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning, Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, to inaugurate the 15th International PMI Conference- the Gulf Chapter.
The conference is being held from 19-21 January 2015 under the theme "Delivering GCC 2030 Vision through Excellent Project Management".
The conference, which is supported by mega companies and institutions, aims to provide a platform for experts in project management to exchange expertise, share their knowledge and visions and to discuss the latest mega projects and most prominent challenges faced by project management.
The conference attracts a number of keynote speakers from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, France, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, all of whom will certainly enrich the conference sessions and the workshops to be held on the sidelines of the event.
The conference will shed light on a number of important search aspects such as leadership in project management, role of Project Management in the planning & Execution of projects, sustainable environment development projects, human resources development in project management, privatization projects, project risk management, promoting Project Management Fundamentals & Practices in the Region and improving productivity.
The minister, in his speech, highlighted Bahrain continuing support for Project Management Institute by embracing its branch and supporting the activities of this conference and any other related activity held by the Institute.
The Ministry has also adopted Project Management as part of its strategic plan, which makes it one of the leading ministries in applying project management in line with PMI’s method and procedures, he added.
He noted HRH Premier's support for the infrastructure development initiatives that contribute to enhancing national economy and meeting various challenges, which conforms with the royal vision for better future of Bahrain. Where Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 has emerged under the supervision of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier that primarily aims to promote Bahrain’s standing regionally and internationally and to improve standard living of Bahraini people.
The ministry, being responsible for the implementation of infrastructure projects, such as roads, causeways, sewerage networks and municipal and agricultural projects, is keen to raise awareness of adopting best practices in managing and implementing projects. The ministry also engages engineers and technical cadres in training sessions to ensure the implementation of future projects to the fullest, he said.
