As part of its strategy to build capacity in the field of land transportation, the Ministry of Transportation is organizing a training course titled "Public Transport Fundamentals" in cooperation with the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), in the Kingdom of Bahrain from 15th to 17th September 2014.
Ministry of Transportation Undersecretary for Land Transportation and Post, Her Excellency Engineer Mariam Ahmed Juman, said "this training program is designed to enhance the understanding of concepts within the management of the land transportation sector. This comes as a critical time as we are laying the groundwork for a major public transportation project. The training course reflects the importance of the sector, which is one of the Ministry of Transportation’s core strategic business areas."
Individuals from various entities will participate in this training course, which will be an opportune time for ideas and information exchange.
Land transport experts from the Middle East and Europe will lead the course, focusing on the basics of public transportation. Some of the areas to be covered include analysis and discussion of events and developments in the public transportation sector, introduction of improvements and suggestions to promote this sector, as well as challenges currently faced by public transport authorities, firms and operators. The course will also discuss potential programs, mechanisms, and basic common definitions used in public transportation services.
