Minister of Labour, Jameel Bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan met with the organizing team for the 10th Careers Expo organized by Ministry of Labour at Hamad Town Girls Secondary School from 5 to 7 of current February. The meeting was in presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, Mohammed Ali Al-Ansari. The Minister praised the efforts of the Head of the Team, the Acting Director of Employment at the Ministry of Labour, Ali Abdullah Makki, and all the team’s members in achieving the desired goals out of holding the Expo, highlighting the positive results achieved, and the great turnout the Expo witnessed. “The Tenth Careers Expo comes within a series of designed initiatives to find job opportunities that provide decent living for citizens searching for jobs, which is considered a community culture the government is keen to consolidate in addressing the unemployment issue,” the minister said. Humaidan stressed, “The great turnout of the Expo during its three days, is a positive indication for its success,” he said. The Expo’s visitors were about 2735 male and female job seekers, mostly females 1835, where the males were 900, who were classified into three categories according to their academic qualifications. The first category was for those having Bachelor Degree 738 visitors, and the second was for those having Diploma 575 visitors, where the third category was for those having General Secondary Certificate and those below them 927 visitors, in addition to 495 job seekers who were not registered in the ministry’s records. The number of job opportunities presented by the participating institutions in the Expo in addition to 195 firms and institutions through the recruitment services office at the ministry reached 2400, in addition to training opportunities in all fields.
