Arab States' strategists are advised to link up development schemes with employment, said the Arab Labor Organization (ALO) Director General Ahmad Luqman on Sunday.
Luqman, addressing the organization's 41the session, also urged the Arab countries' authorities to review their socio-economic policies, in light of recent development on the political arena. Such an approach warrants a new "social contract" that could guarantee Arab peoples' future, he said, warning that unemployment has alarmingly soared since 2010.
He called for greater financial allocations for ministries of labor, chambers of commerce, as well as activating role of the labor unions. Moreover, Luqman urged the Arab states to deepen cooperation for tackling social affairs and supporting the Palestinian labor market.
The organization current session is sponsored by the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. Kuwait is taking part in the gathering with a delegation headed by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Planning and Development Hind Al-Sabeeh.
The meeting schedule includes election of a new director-general, discussing a report regarding inter-Arab cooperation for enhancing employment, the new strategy, the budget and committees' affairs.
