erman Government allocated another 1.5 million euros for providing humanitarian aid to Iraqi refugees who fled their homes in the northern cities which fell under the control of the Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL) militants.
In a press statement, the German Foreign Ministry said that urgent humanitarian assistance is meant to alleviate the suffering of the growing number of refugees in the northern Iraq.
It added that the total German aid to Iraq in the past few days reached about three million euros.
Meanwhile, Australian Defense Ministry has pledged support to the United States to ensure further atrocities are not carried out in Iraq.
Australia is planning the deployment of military aircraft to drop aid packages in northern Iraq.
Australia is ready to help the American military and the Iraqi government in any way to deal with this terrorist organization, Defense Minister David Johnston said.
He added that the government had agreed to send two aircraft (Hercules) to assist in the humanitarian airlift in Iraq.
