Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal on Monday pays a working visit to Oran, (432 km west of Algiers) where he will inaugurate, commission and launch several projects initiated as part of the programme of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Accompanied by an important ministerial delegation, Sellal should inaugurate the Renault car manufacturing plant in Oued Tlelat.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by a French official delegation.
Later, the Premier will go to Merset el Hadjadj, east of Oran, where he will inaugurate the huge water desalination plant of El Mactaa. This facility, one of the world’s largest plants using the reverse osmosis process has a daily production capacity of 500,000 m3.
The water produced will meet the needs of Oran province and also the needs of the neighboring provinces like Mascara, Tiaret, Mostaganem and Relizane.
In the industrial zone of Arzew, Abdelmalek Sellal will inaugurate and commission two complexes for the production of ammonia and urea. The first complex comes under an Algerian-Omanian joint venture, Al-Djazaïria al-Omania Lil Asmida (AOA) while the second one is part of the company Sorfert, a project cofounded by Sonatrach and Egyptian group Orascom.
Sellal will also inaugurate and bring into service the complex for Liquefied Natural Gas, GNL3Z, a facility which replaces the world’s first LNG complex, « La Camel» commissioned in 1964 and closed in 2010, with the stoppage of the production.
The laying down of the first stone of the Police Academy of Gdyel and that of the project of the construction of link of the Oran port -highway, the visit of a hotel project and the inauguration of Business Center “les falaises” are also included in the programme of the premier’s visit.
