Industrial production of the Algerian public sector increased by 3.9% during the first quarter of 2014, a "notable" recovery compared with a 2.5% drop in the same period of 2013, the National Statistics Office (ONS) said Tuesday.
"The rise in Algerian public sector's industrial production, which started in the second quarter of 2013, and especially the third (4.5%) and fourth (1%) quarters, has been confirmed during the first three months in 2014 with an increase by 3.9%," the Office said.
Many sectors have contributed to this increase in industrial production, including hydrocarbons, energy, mines and quarries as well as food processing industries, according to the figures of the ONS.
Hydrocarbons have recorded over the first three months of 2014 a growth rate of 13.5% compared to the same quarter in 2013, which was marked by a drop by more than 10%.
The rise concerned all the sector's fields, crude oil and gas production (5.1%), natural gas liquefaction (19.9%) and oil refinery (61.1%).
Production in energy sector carried on increasing, reaching a growth rise of 4.9% in the first quarter of 2014 compared with the same period in 2013, which recorded a 2.2% increase.
