A team from Al-Rahma International Charity, an affiliate of Kuwait's Al-Islah Society (Society for Social Reform), distributed aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan Tuesday as part of an urgent campaign, launched by Kuwaiti people, to help refugees face freezing temperatures and blizzards.
The USD-50,000 Kuwaiti campaign, offered by philanthropists, would help 335 Syrian families living in flimsy tents in governorates of Mafraq, northern the country, and Zarqaa, eastern Amman.
Cash coupons were given to 165 families in Mafraq and 170 others in Zarqaa, USD 140 per family, in addition to supplies such as food, heaters, and winter clothes, Yahya Al-Aqaili, Al-Rahma's general secretariat, stated to KUNA.
Al-Aqaili stressed importance of Al-Rahma team's visit to the Kingdom in order to get acquainted closely with urgent relief efforts in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, and Syria.
He added that this team is part of Al-Rahma's relief groups to aid the Syrian people in Jordan and other countries in the region in facing winter storms.
A-Rahma International provided a total of USD 600,000 worth of aid and supplies over the past 12 days, including heaters, fuel, clothes, blankets, cash, and food, he said, pointing out that the number of the Kuwaiti Charity's campaigns to aid Syrian refugees in the region has come to 185 so far.
