Al-Rahma International Charity, an affiliate of Al- Eslah Society (Islamic Society for Social Reform), started delivering aid supplies to the Syrian refugees in Jordan on Thursday.
Along with the relief supplies, the convoy carries a constellation of Kuwaiti artistic and media celebrities, including Mohammad Al-Mani'e, Abdulaziz Al-Msallam, Dr. Esam Al-Fleij and Mishari Al-Ballam, said chairman of Al-Rahma aid convoys Dr. Walid Al-Anjari.
"This is the 175th aid convoy by Al-Rahma; it's dubbed 'sufaraa al-khir' (ambassadors of good) and aims to deliver a message that the people of Kuwait stand up for the relief effort and humanitarian action," Dr. Al-Anjari told KUNA here.
"The big number of Al-Rahma's aid convoys signals the civilized portrait of Kuwait and the Kuwaitis' keenness on supporting the Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey and even the internally displaced Syrians," he pointed out.
Dr. Al-Anjari commended the generous contributions of the Kuwaiti benevolent people to the continuous relief efforts of the charity.
Meanwhile, Dr. Esam Al-Fleij, a media figure and relief work volunteer, said the delegation inspected a number of Kuwaiti-funded humanitarian projects aiming to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian refugees in northern Jordan.
"These projects offer housing, educational and health services for the refugees, particularly the orphans," he said, noting that Al-Rahma targets spending KD 20,000 on the medical treatment of some 200 wounded or sick refugees.
On his part, Abdulaziz Al-Msallam, an artist, voiced joy for taking part in the aid campaign of Al-Rahma for the fifth time.
He extolled His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for sponsoring the Kuwaiti aid agencies, saying "his kind patronage entitled him for the UN honoring as humanitarian leader." Mishari Al-Ballam, another artist, appreciated the role of the Jordanian people and government in hosting the huge numbers of Syrian refugees and facilitating the relief action by Al-Rama and other aid agencies.
"What we have seen in the Syrian refugee camps is reminiscent of the ordeal of Kuwait in 1990 at the hands of the deposed Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein," he added.
Al-Rahma's 175th aid convoy arrived yesterday with the delivery of its relief supplies continuing until tomorrow at such locations as Al-Maqased hospital, Al-Ikhlaa and Al-Buq'a orphanages, Yazan educational center, Al-Mahatta (station) center, and Al-Hamra camp.
