The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has provided a development grant worth over Dh36.7 million to the Kingdom of Swaziland to fund the first phase of the Manzini-Mbadlane Road Highway Project.
An agreement to this effect was signed here in a ceremony held at the ADFD office in the presence of Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the ADFD, and Swaziland's Minister of Finance, Martin Dlamini. The road will contribute effectively to the socio-economic development of the Kingdom.
Commenting on the deal, Al Suwaidi said, "The agreement comes within the framework of our keenness to support vital sectors in different developing countries, where infrastructure sector, especially roads, play an important role in speeding up the economic growth and trade," adding that many developing countries lack vital infrastructure projects.
He commended the policies of the wise leadership that helped the UAE make a "paradigm shift" in the area of development aid worldwide.
On his part, the Swaziland's Finance Minister praised the UAE government for consolidating joint cooperation, citing the effective role of both, the UAE government and the ADFD, in sustaining the development in Swaziland in general and financing the road in particular.
