The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has destroyed three tonnes of beauty and consumer products not meeting specifications and health standards set by the relevant authorities in the UAE.
Khalifa Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Director of Public Health, Municipality of Abu Dhabi City said the products were seized during random checks on beauty parlours, salons and consumer goods shops. Many of the seized items were past their expiry date.
AL Rumaithi added that other violations included illegible labels, lack of labels in English and Arabic, lack of information on country of origin, improper storage methods, inaccurate medical claims about cosmetic ingredients, sale of pharmaceutical items in unlicensed stores and the sale of harmful aphrodisiacs and weight reducing products.
