The General Authority for Palestine Arab Refugees (GAPAR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) continued the distribution of humanitarian aid among the people besieged by the terrorists at Rama Street in Yarmouk Camp.
Aid distribution is supported by the Syrian Government under the supervision of the Higher Commission for Relief.
The GAPAR Director General Ali Mustafa pointed out that the Authority and the UNRWA on Thursday distributed some 545 food baskets containing bread, marmalade and canned food, bringing the number of the food baskets distributed since January 30th to 38,527 while the number of the medical baskets hit 3,776.
Two patients were also evacuated from inside the camp and admitted at Damascus hospitals.
The total number of the patients who have been evacuated from the camp since January 30th reached 4,450.
Mustafa indicated that Noor Association for Relief, Development and Progressive Youth continues to provide vaccines against some diseases to those who come to the aid distribution site.
Meanwhile, the Medical Services official at the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP_GC) Dr. Maher Sheikha dismissed as exaggerated reports about a spread of typhoid, noting that cases are “within the normal limits.”
Out of 12 suspected cases, 4 only were confirmed, he said, which are in their initial and controllable stages, pointing out that the intent behind spreading the rumor is using it against the Syrian state.
The circles concerned in Syria and UNRWA, in cooperation with the PFLP-GC, have garnered the needed medicine for treating up to 200 cases if confirmed infected with typhoid.
