Ministers of social affairs of member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Gulf Arab States (GCC) on Wednesday called for a workshop to discuss a draft joint social policy for the six member states. The ministers also urged the bloc's member states who already signatories to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to prepare relevant national reports and submit them to the competent international watchdog. This came at the conclusion of the GCC Social Affairs Ministers' 28th meeting in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Maryam Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs of the UAE said the GCC social affairs ministerial council seeks to provide dignified life to citizens of the Gulf through a solid development and social policy to achieve social cohesion and stability in the region. The 29th session of the GCC social affairs ministerial council will be presided over by Saudi Arabia's Minister of Social Affairs Dr Yousef Bin Ahmed Al Othaimeen.
