Two United Nations entities and a NGO have agreed to start education and reconstruction projects in Gaza at meetings held in Doha.
Representatives from Education Above All's Al Fakhoora programme, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF), earlier this week, agreed to start joint education, reconstruction and psychosocial support projects in Gaza.
Officials discussed details of the projects in Gaza where their teams will work together.
The projects cover child protection systems, psychosocial support, and enhance adolescents' social entrepreneurship skills.
UNDP Deputy Special Representative Narjess Saidane said, "More than two thirds of the youth population in Gaza is unemployed. These projects will build or reconstructing more than 200 new classrooms. It will improve access to education for children and adolescents, including children with disabilities." Al Fakhoora director said the joint projects will put funds received from Qatar Development Fund to best use in Gaza.
The projects will also reconstruct damaged university premises, the UN official added.
