As many as 157 pottery workshops are likely to close due to problems facing the industry for quite a while now, said Mosaad Omran, the chairman of the chamber of crafts, Monday.
The chamber has agreed with Cairo city hall to solve the problems facing the pottery industry in Egypt, Omran said in a statement.
Owners of pottery workshops will be given lands through ownership, usufruct or rent systems, he noted.
Omran said his chamber is also seeking to secure loans to be used to buy ovens needed in pottery production. Those ovens should replace traditional means of pottery production, he added.
