Acting Director of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) Mansour Al-Mozn on Tuesday called for broadening the use of all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Smart Crad in more fields for the benefit of the bloc's citizens.
Presiding over the two-day 10th meeting of the guiding committee of the GCC Smart Card, Al-Mozn said the event is part of coordination among the member states to benefit from the expertise and achievements of using the GCC Smart Card.
Today, the meeting discussed unifying the technical specifications for fingerprint authentication on the card at the GCC internal borders, in addition to what has been achieved so far of the recommendations of the 9th meeting, Al-Mozn said.
In addition, participants addressed a host of relevant issues on the use of the smart ID in health matters and the possibility of crossing e-gates at the GCC airports.
One more issue on the meeting agenda was the possibility of including a holder's financial data in the smart card, Al-Mozn said, noting that the bloc's leaders issued directives that the card would be used as an ID in the member states, with no need to carry a passport.
