Egypt\'s constitution has been provisionally suspended as part of a political roadmap, army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has announced. During a statement on national television al-Sisi also confirmed that the head of the Supreme Constitutional Court will take charge for an interim period until a new president is elected in an early presidential election. Surrounded by religious and political leaders, al-Sissi added that a technocratic national government will be formed to regulate state matters. Earlier, state newspaper al-Akhbar reported that the army had told President Mohammed Morsi that he is no longer head of state.
