This is the story of Jack and Mabel, a childless couple in their fifties, moving to Alaska to be alone. Though they have always wanted children, they came stillborn. One day, after the first snow, Jack and Mabel make a young snow child. The next day, a young girl appears from the wilderness of the woods. She grows up along-side Jack and Mabel, disappearing every summer and coming back to them in the winter. Based on the classic Russian fairytale, this beautiful, uplifting story, brings to life the old legend and retells in such a way that you will be longing for more! I loved this book, though it was slow at first and I would only read a few chapters a night, once I got into it I devoured the rest of it in the night. I don\'t normally enjoy re-tellings of fairy-tales because I find them a bit repetitive, but this was brilliantly crafted from a story that isn\'t that well known.
