A book which focuses on relations between Malta and Libya back to 2011 when Libya was mired in a civil war was launched on Wednesday evening at the Grand Master's Palace in Valletta, Capital of Malta. The book, named "Gonzi and Malta's Break with Gaddafi - Recollections of a Premier", was authored by Joseph Cassar, former Ambassador to Libya, following lengthy interviews with former prime minister Lawrence Gonzi. Maltese President George Abela, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, and Gonzi took part in the book launch together with more than 400 other participants. Addressing the audience, Gonzi said "the book presents exclusive photographs and documents and offer unique insights into Malta's role in the Libya crisis." Cassar, now working as Maltese ambassador to China, had previously served as Malta's ambassador to Portugal, Libya, the Russian Federation and Italy and as Malta's representative to the United Nations.
