The “Syria al-Kheir” festival, organized by the Ladies of Syria al-Kheir group, kicked off on Tuesday in the Takiyye Suleymaniye in Damascus’ Old City.
The three-day festival, which is held in cooperation with the Tourism and Social Affairs Ministries, consists of a charity bazaar, an exhibition, a movie screening, a documentation exhibition, heritage music performances, and poetry recitals.
Assistant Tourism Minister Rami Martini said this event is part of the Ministry’s promotional activities, noting that internal tourism has witnessed an improvement recently.
In turn, Assistant Social Affairs Minister Wasim al-Duhni said the festival is an opportunity for providing extra income to families which lost much during the crisis.
For her part, head of the Ladies of Syria al-Kheir group Jeancette Kazan said that the message this initiative wants to send is that Syrian women have much to give, noting that the event involves several mothers of martyrs who were given the assistance needed to start their own projects.
