The 5th National Art Photography Festival (FESPA), bringing together the works of twenty one professional and amateur photographers under the title “The human condition,” opened Thursday in Algiers.
Exhibited until November 20 at the Public Modern and Contemporary Art Museum of Algiers (MaMa), about 100 colour and white and black photographs explore varied themes, including trips, perception of the other, environment and solitude through portraits, life scenes and compositions.
Amar Bourras suggests, through a minutely detailed juxtaposition of several negatives, multiple views of the Saharan region of In Ekker (Tamanrasset) where underground nuclear tests were carried out by the French army during the 1960s.
Portrait is also honoured in this 5th FESPA through photos taken from Algeria and other African and European countries by young photographers like Ramzy Bessaïd, Khelfa Besma Djamila and Markemal Khadidja.
Organized for the second time in nine months, FESPA suggests this year a second exhibition entitled “Photographic residence of Toudja” which will kick off Saturday at ESMA gallery (Riadh El Feth, Algiers).
