The Zayed Central Library in Al Ain celebrated today the International Children's Book Day and the Orphan Day as part of session themed: "Al Ain City .. Eye of Happiness," organised by the UAE Abshar team.
Several events were held in the children's hall at the Zayed Central Library in the presence of Salem Mohammed Belrakad Al Ameri, former member of the Federal National Council with the participation of 40 children from orphanage of Emirates Red Crescent.
The ceremony included advice and guidance which aim to promote the importance of reading among children and paint smile on faces of orphans.
Belrakad commended the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the declaration of 2016 as a year of reading.
For his part, Rashid Abdul Rahman Ali Zayed, Director of Zayed Central Library said that reading is the basis for future generations given its great impact on the community, cognitive development and preparation of young people.
