The rehabilitation of earth construction and deepening of training in this area was the heart of the opening ceremony of the 3rd International Festival for the Promotion of Earthen Architecture (Archi Terre) which was held Saturday evening in Algiers. This event which will be held from April 20 to 24 at the Polytechnic School of Architecture and Urbanism of Algiers (Épau) provides training workshops, led by Algerian and foreign experts, on the technique of land architectures to students in civil engineering and architecture of several universities. For the first time this year the Archi Terre focus on involving and raising awareness of children to the rich architectural heritage of Algeria through workshops tailored to students of some schools of Algiers. During the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture, Khalida Toumi underlined the need for rehabilitating these kinds of architecture which meet "world trend to green economy," and which give Algerian cities and villages their "visual identity."
