Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will attend on Tuesday the charity auction which will be held at Madinat Jumeirah in support of the Reading Nation campaign.
The auction, to be conducted by the Emirates Auction, will also be attended by senior officials and will feature rare items donated by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The items on sale include a106-year-old piece of the Holy Kaaba cover (Kiswa) embroidered with gold and silver threads belonging to Sheikh Mohammed, in addition to10 distinguished telephone numbers, put up by Etisalat and du, and 5 special two-digit car plate numbers, given by Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.
Dubai Arabian Horse Stud, a leading stud for pure Arabian horses, announced that it will put up an Arabian mare for sale at the auction.
Mohammad Al Murr, donated an ancient manuscript and a manuscript edition of the Holy Quran dating back to the19th century for the auction. In addition, an old copy of the Holy Quran dating back three-centuries was donated by Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention.
Proceeds from the sale will help efforts to provide 2 million books to children and students and to establish 2,000 libraries in schools around the world.
