A GCC workshop spotlighting social policies opening today in Bahrain. Social Development Minister Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Balooshi patronized the inaugural ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel. GCC social development ministers, Gulf and Arab experts and advisors also attended the three-day event. Addressing the workshop, Dr. Al-Balooshi stressed Bahrain’s keenness on promoting social policies to ensure social welfare and protection for all social categories. She underscored the importance of engaging citizens in drawing up plans, policies and strategies. She also welcomed the participants in the Kingdom of Bahrain, wishing them success in the workshop to promote GCC development policies. Saudi Social Affairs Minister Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimin stressed the importance of GCC solidarity, hailing Bahrain for hosting the workshop. GCC executive director-general Aqeel Ahmed Al-Jassim stressed the importance of the workshop, pointing out the need to meet the current requirements amid radical changes in the Gulf societies.
