Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy inaugurated a fossil museum in Fayyoum on Thursday.
The new fossil museum of Wadi Al Hitan “Whale Valley” displays valuable fossil remains of whales and sharks unearthed in the area bearing the same name.
The opening was be attended by Minister of Local Development Ahmed Zaki Badr and Fayoum Governor Wael Makram.
Italian Ambassador to Egypt Maurizio Massari and United Nations Development Program Resident Representative in Egypt Anita Nirody were also present.
The new museum will be a starting point for the environmental tourism in Fayyoum, Fahmy said during the inauguration.
