Funky Gecko Design today announced the release of its first app, “Rhymes with Friends,” a poetic game designed to inspire and challenge users. The poetry app, currently available for iPhone and iPad, allows users to share their creative words with the world and let friends rate their poems. “Our vision was to create an educational multi-player poetry platform that allowed users to create poetry slams and share socially via Facebook, Twitter and text,” says co-founder and designer Brian Tedesco. “Poetry is an outlet for many teens and adults, and it stretches the imagination.” Tedesco teamed up with poet and blogger Anneli Martin to develop “Rhymes with Friends.” Users are given three random words to use within the context of a unique poem or rhyme, and then encouraged to let their imaginations run wild. The Poetry Slam feature allows users to create a multi-player game based on those three random words. Users can invite friends from Facebook and Twitter to compete against, and rate each other with up to five stars. Each day, the poem with the highest ratings is featured as the Poem of the Day. Users can add a profile photo and a bio, and even play solo to inspire their creativity or just practice writing poetry before competing against friends. “Poetry serves our innate need to explain ourselves and the world we live in,” Tedesco says. “The words we string together into poems articulate and frame our experiences.” Source: PRWEB
