Over a million Saudi and Gulf visitors are expected at the ‘Come On, Jeddah’ (Hayya Jeddah) festival. The event is scheduled to begin on 11 January 2014, as reported in Arab News. This is the third edition of the festival that aims to promote Jeddah’s tourism industry. Adnan Mandourah, secretary-general of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hoped that the festival would boost business by supporting a winter shopping season. “We foresee a winter shopping festival similar to Jeddah Summer Festival (Jeddah Ghair) which has been a success story for 13 years,” he said. The festival is organized in line with the city’s objectives to develop Jeddah as a religious, economic and cultural destination for tourists. Prince Mishaal ibn Majid’s support was commended for the various tourist, cultural and social activities in the city. The chamber is organizing the event in cooperation with the Jeddah Governorate, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities and King Abdul Aziz International Airport. Source: Travel Daily
