Masri Asli (or 'Pure Egyptian' according to the organisers' translation) Itinerant Film Festival (MAIFF) invites talented independent filmmakers to submit their films, feature, short and long documentaries, for the second MAIFF festival to be held in Cairo, Aswan and Damanhour in March 2014. Masri Asli is a project driven by CINEMANET, a non-governmental organisation that aims to promote independent cinema across Egypt as well as enhance cinematic practices and culture in the country. The organisers underline that "the idea is to present to the audience new films that talk about Egypt." Though all filmmakers, Egyptian and foreign, are welcome to submit their works, only Egyptin directors will be elligable to enter the MAIFF competition. "The prize of this year's competition section is a residency in a cinema school/institution or in a film festival in Europe," the organisers state in their announcement. Deadline for submissions is 31 January 2014. Check this link for details and how to submit a movie. Source: Ahram Online
