Festambiente, the national festival put on by Italy’s Legambiente (Environmental League), makes its return this year to celebrate ecology, culture and solidarity in Rispescia (Grosseto, Toscany) from August 10 to 19, 2012. The 10-day event will feature music, cinema, theatre and market displays, in addition to debates and natural therapies. There will also be a Children’s City, and restaurants and food stands to suit traditional, organic and vegetarian tastes. One of Italy’s most-anticipated summer festivals, with an annual average of 80,000 attendees, this Festambiente will host both national and International musical artists. Performers will include the poet De Gregori, and singers Mannoia, Bregovic and Capossela celebrating world (particularly from the southern hemisphere), ethnic and Eastern European music. Vinicio Capossela is set to open the event on August 10, to be followed by Francesco De Gregori on the 11th, Rocco Papaleo on the 12th, and P.F.M. on the 13th. Fiorella Mannoia will take the stage on August 14, and on the 15th, the holiday of Ferragosto, Quartiere Coffee, a group from Tuscany’s Maremma area will open a special concert entitled Alborosie. Then, Afterhours will play on the 16th, Caparezza (upon grand request) on the 17th, the irresistible Teo Teocoli on the 18th and, wrapping up the festival on the 19th, From / History website
