A strong earthquake has struck off New Zealand's east cape. More than 100 people have reported they have felt the magnitude 5.7 quake, experiencing moderate, or light, shaking.
The quake struck 100 km north-east of Te Araroa, 25km deep.Geo-net classifies the quake as 'severe'. The earthquake was originally recorded as a magnitude 5, before being upgraded.
