Heavy rain lashed the coastal areas of east China's Zhejiang Province Sunday as tropical storm Fung-Wong is approaching.
More than 5,000 fish boats from Ningbo City have returned to port, as a typhoon alert was issued at 10 a.m. Sunday. All people working in coastal aquaculture were evacuated while all tourist attractions were temporarily closed.
The 16th typhoon (tropical storm level) this year is expected to make landfall in the southwest coast of Taiwan on Sunday and continue to move north to the coastal areas in the provinces of Fujian and Zhejiang.
As of 8 a.m., Fung-Wong was centered 90 km southwest of Taiwan's Kaohsiung, and 790 km south of Zhejiang's Taizhou City, packing wind as strong as 28 meters per second.
More rain is expected in the east areas of Zhejiang through Monday.
