Security forces continued wide-scale campaigns to confront acts of thuggery, arrest outlaws and seize firearms and unlicensed weapons.
Security forces seized 1,525 arms, machine-guns, pistols and locally-made guns over the past ten days, Assistant Interior Minister Sayed Shafiq told MENA.
Two among the seized arms were stolen from police stations during riots.
Police retrieved 161 stolen cars and arrested 11 fugitives.
Some 17 tons of drugs were seized during the operations.
The campaigns, carried out at the behest of Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim, aim at restoring security and order to Egyptian streets.
All legal measures were taken and prosecutors were notified for investigations.
