Sudanese army spokesperson Ahmed Khalifa al-Shami on Tuesday issued a statement saying the government troops are now controlling Um Serdibah in South Kordofan "the main rebel stronghold in Kadugli sector", and Musharaka area.
According to (Sudan Tribune), Al-Shami further announced they repelled a rebel counterattack to retake Karkakaia on Tuesday morning where they killed 55 rebels, adding "The army continues its progress towards the planned objectives in all axes, taking the lead in fighting and strangling the rebel lines." Last Sunday the army said they retook a number in South Kordofan including Al-Maradis, El Lipo, Kutna, Ukob, Karkakaia, El-Biri.
