The UAE’s U-15 jiu-jitsu national team won six gold medals, five silver medals and five bronze medals in the Balkan Open Championship which was held in Larnaca, Cyprus, from 16th to 18th September.
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu national team returned home on Monday following their maiden participation at the championship.
Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, dedicated the achievement to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
He said the athletes' robust performance had highlighted the growing profile of the UAE in international sports championships.
The national Jiu Jitsu squad will fly next Thursday to Vietnam to participate at the Asian Beach Games to be held from 24th September to 3rd October 2016 in the city of Da Nang.
