One of the only two survivors of last week\'s plane crash that wiped out almost the entire Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice-hockey team died in hospital on Monday, hospital officials said. Alexander Galimov, a Yaroslavl native, began his career in 2004 and was a member of the silver-medal winning Russian U20 team at the 2005 World Junior Ice-Hockey Championships. He also played for the senior national team. He was 26. \"Alexander Galimov died from severe burns in the burn center of the Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery,\" the statement said. \"We did everythng possible to save him,\" burn specialist Andrei Alekseev said. Forty-five people died on Wednesday afternoon when a plane carrying the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice-hockey team crashed during take-off near Yaroslavl, some 300 kilometers from Moscow. Galimov, who had suffered burns to 90% of his body, was sent to Moscow Institute of Surgery on Thursday together with another survivor, crew member Alexander Sizov. Sizov was moved from intensive care to a ward on Monday and his life is now out of danger, hospital officials said. Police eyewitnesses said that Galimov walked away from the wreckage of the plane.
