The timing of suspending Egyptian javelin throw champion Ihab Abdel-Rahman raises doubts of the Egyptian Athletics Sports Federation, as the he has been subjected to doping test before, the federation said Sunday.
Abdel-Rahman has been temporarily suspended due to doping accusations from the International Olympic Committee.
Speaking to MENA, member of the Egyptian Athletics Sports Federation Ahmed el Werdani said he would ask the Egyptian National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) to conduct another doping test to Abdel-Rahman.
NADO said Abdel-Rahman has been undergone to doping test on April 17.
El Werdani said Abdel-Rahman had doping tests in different European countries during his participation in previous international tournaments, and nothing proved such accusations.
He raises doubts about the results of the test, despite it was taken in April.
The 27-year-old has won a gold medal in this year’s Diamond League with a 87.37 meter throw and he is one of Athletes expected to win a medal for Egypt in this year’s Olympics.
