Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary is considering hanging up his gloves, saying he had been abandoned by his associates during the difficult period he endured lately.“I am living my worst days but El-Merreikh’s officials are not to blame for that,” the veteran shot-stopper said in a phone interview with Ahram.“I am thinking about announcing my retirement, although I feel I can perform at the highest level for two more years.“I’m facing mounting problems and no one is standing by me. There are some people who publish false stories about me,” he added without specifying the kind of problems he is facing.Sudanese side Merreikh refused to sell the 38-year old to English second-division side Hull City, who tried the goalkeeper out last month. He consequently went AWOL but reported back to El-Merreikh training few days later after the club threatened to lodge a complaint with world governing body FIFA.El-Hadary has endured constant problems since leaving Egyptian champions Ahly in an acrimonious manner in 2008. He was involved in disputes with Egyptian clubs Ismaily and Zamalek during the past two years. However, El-Hadary remains Egypt’s undisputed number one keeper. He is widely regarded as the best keeper in the country’s history. The former Sion man, who made no secret of his desire to have another European spell before his retirement, played a key role in helping Egypt win three consecutive African Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
